HUGH Jackman has sent 6,000 geeks into a frenzy while making a grand entrance at Comic-Con, the mega-sized pop culture carnival in San Diego, but the Australian cricket team was on the actor's mind.

Yes, England are dominating the Ashes, but Jackman has a suggestion. What if Wolverine, the mutant superhero with adamantium claws he plays in Hollywood blockbusters, wears a baggy green cap in the third test?

"He could just take them all out," Jackman told AAP at Comic-Con. Jackman, currently on a global tour to promote The Wolverine, is a big cricket fan and was at Lord's to watch the first day of the second test.

If Wolverine opens the batting and bowling against England, the Aussies should have the third test wrapped up by late on the first day.

Jackman also had surprise on Saturday for the 6,000 fans who crowded in Comic-Con's Hall H to see the actor share a few clips of The Wolverine.

Joining the Sydney-born actor on stage was the mega-sized cast of the new X-Men movie, X-Men: Days of Future Past.

Jennifer Lawrence, Ian McKellen, Patrick Stewart, Peter Dinklage, James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Ellen Page and the pregnant and recently married Halle Berry shocked the crowd.

Lawrence, who plays Mystique and is covered in body paint in the film, joked there were two big reasons to see the film.

"She's pregnant," Lawrence, nodding toward Berry, said.

"I'm naked.

"Come see the movie." The Wolverine releases in Australia on July 25.

X-Men: Days of Future Past is set for release in May, 2014.
