Big Bash League: Star slugger Chris Lynn signs one-year deal with Adelaide Strikers

Chris Lynn has signed a one-year deal with Adelaide Strikers, but the best news for the BBL club might just be the hard-hitting batter’s availability this summer.

The master blaster is back in blue.

And for the first time in three seasons for the Adelaide Strikers, Chris Lynn will be available for the Big Bash League finals.

The BBL’s greatest run-scorer and six hitter has signed a one-year deal with the Strikers.

“Chris is a box-office attraction and vital part of a versatile and talented squad

that we believe will again challenge for the title in BBL14,’’ Strikers interim general

manager Shaun Williams said.

“While his batting exploits speak for themselves, the experience and leadership he

brings to our playing group and the assistance he provides for younger players as

well as our coaching staff is equally invaluable.’’

Lynn, 34, has spent the past two BBL campaigns with the Strikers after previously starring for the Brisbane Heat.

He has made the BBL team of the tournament in both seasons with in Strikers but hasn’t been available for the finals because of overseas Twenty20 commitments.

However, he will be available for the entire BBL14 campaign.

Lynn has blasted 720 runs at a strike rate of 150 in his two seasons with Adelaide while hitting 28 sixes and 71 boundaries.

No player in BBL history has cleared the rope more often than Lynn’s 208, while he has scored a competition-best 3725 runs in 120 matches at an average of 36.51.

He joins fellow BBL13 team of the tournament members Matt Short and Cameron

Boyce in re-signing with the Strikers, whose memberships have opened for the new campaign.

“I can’t wait to get back with the lads and play in front of our amazing Strikers fans at

Adelaide Oval,’’ Lynn said.

“I’m confident we can progress even further this season.”

Adelaide’s BBL14 schedule includes its traditional New Year’s Eve blockbuster at Adelaide Oval and a home rematch against last season’s champion the Heat on January 11.
