Australia v India Second Test: Pat Cummins takes five, Mohammed Siraj booed again as Aussies win by 10 wickets
Australia wrapped up the second Test inside two hours on Sunday, and now all eyes turn to Brisbane. Will India do things differently? Here’s the latest from both camps.
Indian skipper Rohit Sharma has claimed that team secrets were at risk of being exposed by close-up fans, prompting the tourists’ decision not to proceed with further open training sessions.
With his side thrashed by 10 wickets at Adelaide Oval, Sharma indicated that paceman Mohammed Shami could yet return later in the series.
Australia meanwhile could regain the services of Josh Hazlewood who will hit the nets at Adelaide Oval on Monday as he bids to prove his fitness for the third Test starting on Saturday at the Gabba.

Thousands of fans watched India train in Adelaide three days out from the start of the Test, but plans for similar open sessions in Brisbane and Sydney have been shelved after India felt suffocated by being watched by so many people just metres from the nets.
The MCG nets are viewable from outside the ground, meaning fans will be harder to exclude.
“The net sessions are very private and this was the first time ever I saw so many people during the nets. And when you’re training, when you’re practicing, there’s been a lot of conversation that happens and those conversations are very private,” Sharma said.
“We don’t want anyone to hear those conversations. It is as simple as that, because there’s a lot of planning, there’s a lot of talking that happens, and the crowds are very close to that practice facility. There’s five of Test cricket, they can come and watch us there.”
Shami has been on the comeback from a knee injury that sidelined him for much of the year and a setback while playing domestic T20 cricket in India has complicated the situation.
“No definitely, that door is very much open,” Sharma said.
“But we’re just monitoring him because while playing Syed Mushtaq Ali (Trophy) he again got some swelling in his knee which obviously hampers his preparation to come and play a Test match.”
Aussie captain Pat Cummins said Hazlewood would bowl on Monday after missing the second Test with a side strain.
“Joshy will have another bowl tomorrow. So he’s all on track,” Cummins said.
Aussies steamroll India to win – but tensions flare again
Australia will head to Brisbane brimming with momentum after crushing India inside seven sessions at Adelaide Oval.
The series will resume at the Gabba on Saturday with the sides locked at 1-1 after Australia’s 10-wicket win in at-times spiteful Test.
Mohammed Siraj was again booed by the Adelaide crowd, the day after his mid-pitch confrontation with Travis Head.
Siraj has since accused Head of lying about what transpired in the middle. Both are set to come under scrutiny from the match referee.
With Head fielding at short leg, the pair had words when Siraj batted late in India’s innings.
The clinical hosts ensured there would be no miracle comeback from Rohit Sharma’s men, taking 5-47 on Sunday afternoon as the tourists were bowled out for 175 in their second innings.
Set a measly 19 to win, Australia reached the target without loss as Usman Khawaja and Nathan McSweeney secured victory in 20 balls.
Pat Cummins exploited a bouncy Adelaide wicket to take 5-57 as Australia’s three frontline quicks got the job done without even a single over needed from Nathan Lyon or Mitch Marsh in the second innings.
The Aussies could regain Josh Hazlewood for the Brisbane Test although his replacement Scott Boland was outstanding in Adelaide.
