Australia player ratings from the second Test against New Zealand
Alex Carey was central to another all-time Australian comeback win. But who else starred? And who would rather forget the whole Test? DANIEL CHERNY rates all the Aussie players.
Australia has done it again – with Alex Carey and Pat Cummins pulling off another all-time Test heist to crush the spirits of New Zealand.
From the depths of a top-order collapse, Australia fought back to knock over the target of 279 with three wickets remaining.
Carey – who also took ten catches for the match – was at the centre of the outrageous comeback, finishing unbeaten on 98, after combining brilliantly with Mitchell Marsh (80) earlier on Monday.
It was far from a perfect performance for Australia, however, with the openers struggling in both innings as the team’s questionable batting credentials had a spotlight shone on them.
The victory caps off a highly successful summer – but who, along with Carey, delivered the biggest performances?
And who will spend the next nine months, until Australia’s next Test match, worrying about their place in the team?
Daniel Cherny rates the performances of every Australian player from the epic Test match below.
