Ashes: Australian captain Pat Cummins caught in Covid chaos
A restaurant visit on Wednesday night in Adelaide could force Australian captain Pat Cummins out of the second Ashes Test.
Test captain Pat Cummins could be forced out of the second Ashes Test in Adelaide after he was identified as a close contact of a positive Covid-19 case.
It’s been reported the Australian captain was at an Adelaide restaurant on Wednesday night when a patron at the next table was identified as a positive COVID-19 case.
Cummins and others immediately left the venue and alerted authorities and it’s unclear whether the fast bowler will feature in the second Test, which starts on Thursday afternoon,
Cricket Australia is scrambling to determine whether Cummins can play or not.
If he missed the match, Steve Smith would captain Australia for the first time since he was stood down following the sandpaper scandal in South Africa.
