Coronavirus: Greg Norman tests positive, hospitalised

Australian golf icon Greg Norman has revealed he has been diagnosed with COVID-19.

The Shark, who lives in the US, posted the news on his Instagram page alongside photos of him in his hospital bed in isolation.

“This sums it all up. My Christmas Day. On behalf of millions, f*** Covid,” Norman wrote.

“Get this s**t behind us never to experience it again.”

On Christmas Eve, the 65-year-old posted a video to his social media saying he had been tested for COVID and was expecting the results to return negative.

“I feel very flu-like, I have a mild fever, I have a cough, I have aches and pains, I have a mild headache,” he told his 188,000 followers.

“So I am in self-quarantine. Ugly place to be on Christmas Eve, but I just do not want to jeopardise affecting any of my family or friends or loved ones around me.”

Norman also wished his followers a Merry Christmas, giving special mention to his Australian fans.

“Merry Christmas to everyone down under,” he said.

“I know it’s a weird one this year and let’s look forward to 2021 and beyond and making and getting this world back to a better, happier, more successful, healthier place.”

A week ago Norman was playing in the father-son PNC Championship in Florida with his son Greg Norman Jr.

The pair finished ninth in the tournament in Florida, two places behind Tiger Woods and his 11-year-old son Charlie.
