Shane Heal said he is relieved after fraud charges against him were dropped, days before he was due to go to trial.

The 46-year-old former Boomer had been accused of defrauding Philadelphia 76ers NBA coach Brett Brown of $750,000 when Heal was sole director of three companies, which are all now deregistered.

He was due to stand trial at the Brisbane District Court on Monday however charges against him have been dropped, his lawyers said.

“I am very pleased with the outcome,” Heal said.

“I have always maintained my innocence and have fought this from day one.

“I would like to thank everyone who has supported me through these difficult times, especially my family and close friends.”

The four-time Olympian was charged in 2016 following an Australian Securities and Investments Commission investigation relating to alleged misconduct in 2008, 2009 and 2010.
