Tom Morris and Luke Beveridge break bread three years on from press conference stoush
Tom Morris and Luke Beveridge have come face-to-face for the first time since their infamous press conference interaction three years ago. See what you missed on Tuesday night’s footy shows.
Luke Beveridge and Tom Morris have broken bread for the first time since the now-infamous press conference interaction in 2022.
And while the pair resolved the three-year long stoush during the Footy Classified segment on Tuesday night, it still appeared to be frosty between the two.
Beveridge let loose on Morris after the Bulldogs’ loss to Melbourne at the start of the season, with the coach trying to kick the reporter out of the press conference.
While Morris said on Footy Classified “there’s no angst” felt towards Beveridge, the coach remained frustrated why they were rehashing the past.
"Time heals all wounds â but we've still got that time in the future."

“Tonight’s not about that detail, it’s the first time I’ve been on Channel 9 in probably since a couple of antagonists moved over to Channel 7.
“I’ve come here tonight to definitely interact and hopefully provide something of value, but the detail in what happened doesn’t help me, it doesn’t help our footy club, I don’t think it really helps you Tom, and I just don’t think we should go there.”
“It shouldn’t be aired tonight.”
Morris had revealed some selection news in the lead up to the Bulldogs’ match against Melbourne, which Beveridge took exception to at the time.
Since the press conference stoush, Morris has not attended a Beveridge press conference, but said on the show he hoped the pair could mend old wounds.
“Can you and I move on?” he asked Beveridge.
“We’re not best friends clearly, but can we have a professional relationship so I can come to your press conferences and report on the Western Bulldogs?”
Beveridge said “time heals all wounds” and he would welcome Morris back to the kennel.
WHAT YOU MISSED ON TUESDAY NIGHT’S FOOTY SHOWS
In the modern age of footy media where there’s countless shows at your fingertips, there’s just not enough time in the night to consume every opinion and piece of news.
Until now.
I sat down and watched all of the shows last night and have compiled the best bits of news to help the average footy punter know what’s happening.
Here is what you missed.
FOOTY CLASSIFIED
It is one of AFL’s most talked about rivalries in the AFL world.
No, not Carlton v Collingwood.
Luke Beveridge v Tom Morris.
The pair sat next to each other on the Footy Classified desk in their first bread-breaking exercise since the pair came to blows in a post-match press conference in 2022.
The pair watched back the press conference where Beveridge, sporting the handlebar moustache, tried to kick Morris out of the room.
While Morris on Tuesday says “there’s no angst” towards Beveridge, the Bulldogs’ coach said he couldn’t understand why the program was rehashing old wounds.
“I’ve come here tonight to definitely interact and hopefully provide something of value, but the detail in what happened doesn’t help me, it doesn’t help our footy club, I don’t think it really helps you Tom, and I just don’t think we should go there.”
"Time heals all wounds â but we've still got that time in the future."

AFL 360
Dogs fans, have you gotten over Friday’s loss to the Pies?
Well, ‘Razor’ Ray Chamberlain says the Western Bulldogs are right to be miffed after umpires missed a free kick in the dying seconds of the heartbreak loss to Collingwood.
Isaac Quaynor dived for a loose ball and collected Lachie Bramble’s legs, with the umpire opting to not blow the whistle for ‘contact below the knees’.
It would’ve given the Dogs a chance to a miracle mark, but with Sam Darcy in rare form in the air, anything could’ve happened.
MIDWEEK TACKLE
Glenn McFarlane and Jon Ralph revealed a deep dive into ‘Destination Moorabbin’, with the Saints set for a “massive six months” according to Ralph.
The Herald Sun duo have put together a massive deep dive into St Kilda’s recruiting in recent seasons, and think the Saints are set to land some of Tom De Koning, Luke Davies-Uniacke, Leek Aleer and Miles Bergman with their new recruiting drive.
“The fascinating one is St Kilda throwing the kitchen sink at Leek Aleer,” Ralph said.
“He’s just not in this defence because it’s so exceptional right now.
“He knows he’s going to have to move on.
“I think they’d be prepared to offer $900,000 if that’s what it’s going to take to land this guy... I think he’d just fit perfectly in there with Cal Wilkie.”
Talk about transforming the list in one off-season.

AGENDA SETTERS
Luke Hodge revealed West Coast star Harley Reid reached out to the champion Hawk for some advice to deal with the pressures of being the No.1 draftee.
“I was going to catch up with him on Saturday before kids sports got in the road,” he said.
“Harley reached out... I struggled my first years.
“He was professionally better than what I was, his fitness isn’t up to standard and he knows and he’s working on that, but you can’t just flick your fingers.”
We all know how good ‘Hodgey’ was.
WHAT EVERYONE SAID:
...about the Bombers
– “For us sitting outside of Tullamarine, finals are the last thing that they are worrying about, or should be concentrating or worrying about now. That’s a hard listen for an Essendon fan but that is real.” – Garry Lyon, AFL 360
– “It (a rebuild) is the only way to deal with the talent deficit once you identify that you don’t have the list for it, you have to go back to the draft. The A-grade talent comes from the draft.” – Gerard Whateley, AFL 360
– “I think (Nick) Daicos and (Harry) Sheezel and these guys that come in week one and are the best players, it doesn’t always correlate for some of this younger talent. No doubt we want these guys to come on and quicker and fast as they can. I think the talent is there, it’s just how fast we can develop them and turn them into good quality players that perform and are capable week in and week out.” – Zach Merrett, AFL 360
– “Essendon has turned over 20 players since November 2023, the last two trade periods. I don’t think it’s going to slow up.” – Jon Ralph, Midweek Tackle
