The Harley Reid hunt: Which Victorian club has the best chance of luring the Eagle?

How many first round picks would it take for the Eagles to trade Harley Reid? Which other players could be involved? And who’s serious in the race? We look at how it could all play out.

Victorian clubs believe Harley Reid will explore a trade to his home state at the season’s end and are circling like vultures.

Reid has only played 27 games and his form to start the season has been patchy, but he is widely touted to command the first ever deal worth $2 million per season.

There are several contract offers from West Coast in front of the former No. 1 pick, but if he turns them all down, which clubs are best placed to land his signature?

Adding to the trade landscape this year is the ability to trade future picks two years in advance, which will help clubs put a bundle of first-round picks together in an attempt to satisfy the Eagles.

But the value of any 2027 selection is murky as it coincides with Tasmania’s arrival into the draft, leaving the clubs with current draft capital holding the upper hand.
