West Coast youngster Reuben Ginbey has been told whether an incident with No. 1 pick Sam Lalor warranted a suspension, while an Adelaide veteran also learned his fate.

West Coast youngster Reuben Ginbey avoided any sanction for the push that left Richmond’s No. 1 draft pick Sam Lalor with a concussion and broken jaw.

AFL legend Matthew Lloyd had called on the league to sanction Ginbey for the action, saying it was a dangerous form of tunnelling in the marking contest.

But Ginbey can play for the Eagles in Round 1 after the MRP chose not to sanction him.

Meanwhile, Adelaide veteran Brodie Smith copped a one-match ban for a bump on Port Adelaide’s Christian Moraes during the practice match between the two Showdown rivals.

Smith came under the microscope of the Match Review Panel after his late bump on first-year player Moraes during the fifth term between the Crows and Power at Mount Barker on Friday.

The 33-year-old collected Moraes after he dished off the ball.

The MRP charged Smith with rough conduct and graded it as careless conduct, medium impact and high contact and handed him a one-match ban.

Smith is facing an uphill battle to regain his spot in the Crows side this year with Wayne Milera returning from injury to boost their halfback options and Isaac Cumming set to spend time between the wing and the backline after coming to the club from GWS.

The former leadership group member has played 262 games for the Crows.
