AFL 2023: Josh Rachele AFL’s most cited player, see every club’s suspension and fine totals

Adelaide’s Josh Rachele was the most cited player of the year as Richmond racked up the most games of suspension during the home and away campaign.
Rachele was the only player fined on three separate occasions and he also copped a two-week ban for and elbow on GWS defender Jack Buckley.
One of the club’s brightest talents, the Crows are well aware Rachele can get heated on the field as assistant James Rahilly said this year “we know he can be emotional”.
The forward’s fines tallied up to $4000 this year as the Crows totalled $13,000 for the season.
That figure was only bettered by cross-town rival Port Adelaide and Gold Coast, who both had to fork out $14,000 for player indiscretions this year.
Richmond famously fought discipline issues during Damien Hardwick’s golden years and the Tigers totalled 10 weeks of suspension in 2023, with Nathan Broad’s four-week ban for a dangerous tackle the biggest penalty.
Each of James Sicily, Sam Petrevski-Seton, Tom Jonas, Willie Rioli and Toby Bedford were given multiple suspensions this year.
Giant Bedford fought to overturn the second ban at the tribunal on Monday but failed, ruling him out of an elimination final against St Kilda.
The AFL handed out 101 individual fines this year, totalling $155,000.
Careless contact with an umpire the most popular charge with 22 players cited.
There were 59 separate suspensions in 2023, with seven Giants suspended, while the Western Bulldogs were the most disciplined team with just one player (Taylor Duryea) rubbed out.
