For over 110 years Zegna has been the last word in men’s style. A long and storied history underpins the brand and its sartorial output, which under the guiding hand of Artistic Director Alessandro Sartori continues to draw the attentions’ of the well-dressed in 2022.
Names like Donald Glover, Javier Bardem, Jacob Elordi, Willem Dafoe, and Steve Aoki regularly call on the brand; proving the Italian label can satisfy the needs of both the new and old guard of Hollywood with ease.
Now, Sartori throws the brand’s Zegna icons into the limelight; silhouettes that have stood the test of time and foundational pieces that prove wearable and versatile for the modern man.
First, new outerwear layers: Zegna’s retailored workwear combining comfort with the brand’s signature luxury craftsmanship. The pieces, aptly named the Overshirt and Chore jacket, bring what the brand describes as “a new informal way of dressing that’s blurring the lines between traditional shirts and jackets, utilitarian and sartorial.” In other words, adaptable pieces that will take you anywhere: in or outdoors, city or country, home or off the beaten path.
The Overshirt strikes the perfect balance between classic and elegant, thanks to its oversized fit, classic shirt collar, hidden button closures, and patch pockets. Easy to layer, easier to slot into an existing wardrobe of utilitarian or classic silhouettes. As for the Chore jacket, it’s functionality is supported by a regular fit, double vents, patch pockets and a four-button closure that nods to workwear of the past, only now its cut from the finest hemp, cotton or pure linen and served up in versatile seasonal shades—that elegant slant Zegna promises and delivers on in spades.
In fact, both pieces are reworked seasonally and crafted from only the finest Zegna materials: rich autumn/winter fabrics of wool and cashmere as the temperatures drops and refined cotton or linen in a palette of neutral colours from vicuna to green for spring/summer. The result? Two versatile layers for the modern man’s wardrobe that elevate workwear classics to a luxury level.
Last but certainly not least, the iconic Triple Stitch™ Sneaker is reimagined by Sartori and his team for a new era. Updated in a sophisticated new spectrum of colours and materials, the brand notes the “multifaceted shoe” has been “designed for the evolving needs of the modern man”. What you’ve got is an easy to slip-on shoe with triple-crossing elastic detail intended to evoke the look of hand-stitched tailoring.
Deerskin, denim, canvas, suede—Zegna makes easy work of offering up a range that’s versatile and varied in both construction and design. In other words, a shoe that’s been thoughtfully crafted to ensure it can be “worn anytime, anywhere, anyplace”, just as Zegna intended.
And just as the late Ermenegildo Zegna set out to do over a century ago, his eponymous label continues to (re)tailor and dress the modern man, one well-tailored overshirt or slim-line sneaker at a time.
