Since being founded in 1929, Canberra Grammar School continues to provide a nurturing and supportive home to our boarding community, a tight-knit and diverse mix of local, regional and international students. Our boarders live in a friendly and welcoming home away from home, with all the nearby resources of the school and our national capital.

Canberra and its nearby regions offer all the opportunities of a major city and Australia’s natural environment but with the ease and safety of a smaller size.

CGS provides a well-rounded education and offers extensive program that support students’ physical, social and emotional development, emphasising identity and community as integral to the core of who we are. We aim to instil in our students a sense of motivation and drive, through a formal yet personable and authentic learning experience for all students, with state-of-the-art facilities available for our boarding students.

CGS prioritises a safe and supportive environment that recognises every student’s different needs, interests, and strengths and encourages them to be creative, curious, confident and compassionate learners. The school offers a choice between the New South Wales Higher School Certificate Curriculum and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme, which opens up global tertiary opportunities for students.

WHO WE ARE
Established in 1929, Canberra Grammar School is a co-educational Independent Anglican School from Pre-School to Year 12, with boarding from Year 7. Spread across 22ha, the school’s campus is in the heart of Canberra, in Red Hill.

OUR EDUCATION
We offer outstanding academic education, co-curricular opportunities and pastoral care to day and boarding students of all backgrounds and faiths guided by Christian values. We take a student-centred and globally-minded approach to all learning. We are an International Baccalaureate World School. We offer the Primary Years Programme (PYP). Senior students in Years 11 and 12 can study the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme or the NSW HSC.

CO-CURRICULAR OPPORTUNITIES
CGS offers a stimulating curriculum to prepare students for success in a changing world. The school emphasises character development and global citizenship, fostering a caring, inclusive community that values diversity, respect, and empathy. Students pursue their interests and develop new skills through various co-curricular activities, including traditional sports and less common pursuits like taekwondo and sustainability groups. The school offers comprehensive support services, including pastoral care, House and tutorial systems, chaplains, psychologists, and a careers adviser, to ensure that every student can grow personally, socially, academically and spiritually.
