The central mission of Anglican Church Grammar School (Churchie), the making of men, aims to nurture and inspire boys to become men of character who will lead and serve in communities across the world for the common good.
Churchie has focused on its mission for more than 100 years through an emphasis on its four tenets of academic excellence, personal growth, spiritual awareness and service. Boys are encouraged to apply themselves across these four tenets to develop intellectually, physically, socially, emotionally and spiritually.
Churchie’s culture of academic excellence celebrates intellectual and creative pursuits. Boys are challenged and encouraged to work hard, embrace curiosity, share their passions and exceed their expectations, all in a positive learning environment in which they can thrive. From years 7 to 12, students are supported by a world-leading study skills program developed by Churchie’s Research Centre to become confident, resilient and lifelong learners.
Churchie fosters personal growth and development in the life of every student through pastoral learning classes, a wealth of co-curricular activities and outdoor education. Boys are nurtured to develop emotional intelligence, learn interdependence and teamwork, and build resilience and responsibility.
Spirituality is a tenet of Churchie life that seeks to develop empathy and respect for others while exploring faith and self-awareness.
True to the school’s Anglican traditions and values, students are encouraged to have an openness and tolerance of the faiths and beliefs of others.
Churchie has a strong commitment to service, and students are encouraged to participate in a wide array of service initiatives, including international service tours, and fundraising and volunteering for not-for-profit organisations.
Guided by expert staff, Churchie boys are supported in their development across these four tenets to support them to become accomplished young men of good character, strong intellect and generous spirit.

WHO WE ARE
Established in 1912, Anglican Church Grammar School (Churchie), located on a spacious 22-hectare campus in East Brisbane, offers a world-class education for boys in reception to year 12. The main entry years are reception (prep) and years 3, 5 and 7. A thriving boarding program for years 7 to 12 has been a central part of the school since its formation.
ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE
In the Preparatory School, from reception to year 6, boys complete the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme, a globally recognised learning framework that places the student at the centre of learning. A broad, liberal curriculum is offered for students in years 7 to 10, with a strong emphasis on literacy, numeracy, science and languages. In years 11 and 12, students choose between two academically rigorous pathways: the Queensland Certificate of Education and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme. There is also an option for some students to access a vocational education and training pathway.
BEYOND THE CLASSROOM
We aim to foster growth and development in the life of every young man by providing a comprehensive range of co-curricular opportunities and activities. As a member of the Greater Public Schools’ Association of Queensland (GPS), Churchie offers a broad range of sports and activities in which students can compete and develop a strong sense of community. A wide range of performing arts and cultural activities is also available, with opportunities in music, chess, drama, technical production, film and television, debating, camps, exchange programs and tours. A flourishing Tri-Service Cadets program (navy, army and air force) provides excellent opportunities for students to develop leadership and practical skills, transferable throughout life.
