Supporting boarders and their goals from sun-up to sun-down
As one of the only co-educational boarding schools in Melbourne for Years 7 to 12, the Wesley College boarding program provides a safe, nurturing, and dynamic environment.
Choosing to board and live away from home is a significant decision, and one that offers students greater opportunities and diverse pathways for the future.
As one of the only co-educational boarding schools in Melbourne for Years 7 to 12, the Wesley College boarding program provides a safe, nurturing, and dynamic environment. Students are empowered and supported to make the most of every opportunity – academically, socially and personally.
Head of boarding, Tom Giles, says: “Our goal is to support the wellbeing of our students across all stages and areas of their development. Our exceptional levels of care include high staff-to-student ratios with dedicated full-time live-in mentors in each of the boarding residences from 3pm to 7am. We provide tailored support for our younger boarders in Years 7 to 9, such as earlier tech hand-in and lights out time, as well as a Sunday evening preparation with staff to plan for the week ahead and daily homework support.”
Boarders are supported to reach their academic goals with access to class teachers and expert mentors, who are available daily for small group tutorials or individual consultation. After school, boarders participate in a comprehensive residential program which includes charity and service learning, leadership workshops, weekend outings to the MCG or arts and cultural events, as well as a “future skills” development program.
“We are also committed to preparing boarders for their future success, not just through study support, but through our ‘future skills’ program to help boarders with CV writing workshops, networking, leadership and career coaching,” says Mr Giles.

PRINCIPAL
Nick Evans has a 20-year association with the college as a student, teacher and in leadership roles. Following roles as deputy headmaster and head of senior school at Melbourne Grammar School, Evans returned to his alma mater as Wesley’s 17th principal. “It is both a thrill and an honour to serve this wonderful community, one that remains true to its progressive values and unwavering commitment to developing the whole child,” he says. “I believe wholeheartedly that education has the power to transform lives, hearts and minds. My hope for our students is that they experience the distinction and depth of this great school in the same way that I did as a Wesley student myself.”
