Discover eXtraordinary at Xavier
At Xavier, education extends beyond academics; it’s about how each student can uplift those on the margins and contribute positively to society.
At Xavier, education extends beyond academics; it’s about how each student can uplift those on the margins and contribute positively to society. Rooted in the Ignatian tradition, we prioritise “cura personalis”, the care of the whole person.
This principle underscores our boarding programs, designed to holistically support every boarder in their academic, emotional, spiritual, and social development.
At Xavier, we value the critical relationship between student wellbeing and learning. Here, our Ignatian values not only align but also elaborate on many of its core principles. Central to our ethos is the service of others, cultivating a community where students are encouraged to embody being men “for and with others”.
Xavier College has recently restructured its early and middle years experiences in a comprehensive realignment and recrafting of its overall college program.
Extending upon its co-educational Kindergarten for 3- and 4-year-olds, Xavier is moving to a two-year staged model of educational delivery from Prep to Year 12. This will coincide with a comprehensive building program to enhance every aspect of each campus.
Our junior school (Prep to Year 6) program is now set at the magnificent Burke Hall Campus. Operating from the start of the 2024 school year, it has maintained an aligned and progressive curriculum journey for Prep to Year 2 (stage one housed in its contemporary St Louis Building), through Years 3 and 4 (stage two) and into Years 5 and 6 (stage three) that also acts as a significant point of entry for many students and families.
Our other key entry point of Year 7 is now accommodated in an exceptional, new state-of-the-art Year 7 and 8 learning precinct at the senior school, which opened at the start of this school year.

OUR HISTORY
Xavier College was opened by the Society of Jesus (the Jesuits) in 1878. It belongs to a worldwide network of more than 2000 Jesuit educational institutions. Over the following century, Xavier College grew to include two junior campuses: Burke Hall and Kostka Hall. In 2002 at Burke Hall and in 2005 at Kostka Hall, the college expanded its educational program, opening Early Years centres to provide a Jesuit education from the earliest ages. In 2024, Burke Hall became a Junior School educating students K-6. Our Barkers Road campus welcomed Year 7s and Year 8s, coinciding with the opening of the new Year 7 and 8 Kostka Building.
OUR CURRICULUM
Our ASPIRE graduate framework underpins our efforts in teaching and learning at Xavier. We strive to develop aspiring, spiritual, positive, inspiring, resilient and empathetic young men who will provide outstanding service and leadership in our world. In the Jesuit tradition, the Ignatian Pedagogical Paradigm (IPP) encourages students to adopt a lifelong love of learning and a focus on understanding, experience and reflection in their studies, involvement in social justice programs, performance on the stage and participation on the sporting field. At Xavier, our curriculum is guided by the development of the whole person, a commitment to social justice and a global way of thinking, engaging and understanding. A Jesuit education encourages independent thinking, reflection, and discernment.
OUR STUDENT CARE AND WELLBEING
The concept of pastoral care is central to all that we do. It is emotional, social and spiritual support provided to our students in all aspects of their school lives that ensures that they feel “walked with” and listened to throughout their journey, whether it be in the boarding house, on the sporting field, in the classroom or passing in the hallway. A Jesuit education promotes the belief that individuals should feel cared for, and their achievements and contributions should be valued by others and themselves. Staff and students alike are governed by a commitment to “cura personalis”, or “care of the whole person”.
