One man’s fake science causes Greenpeace to deny his claims of being a co-founder

Claiming to be a co-founding member of Greenpeace, Patrick Moore attacks climate alarmists, PJ Media, Tuesday:

In fact, the whole climate crisis as they call it is not only fake news, it’s fake science. There is no climate crisis. There is weather and climate all around the world. And, in fact, carbon dioxide is the main building block of all life. That’s where the carbon comes from in carbon-based life, which is all life on land and in the sea. And not only that, a little bit of warming would not be a bad thing for myself being a Canadian and the people in Russia wouldn’t mind a little couple of degrees warmer either.

Greenpeace responds through the BBC, Tuesday:

Mr Moore frequently cites a long-ago affiliation with Greenpeace to gain legitimacy in the media, and media outlets often either state or imply that Mr Moore still represents Greenpeace. He does not.

The DeSmog website dedicates itself to clearing the air, Tuesday:

What does it take to become a legitimate spokesperson on climate change science and energy policy in the eyes of President Donald Trump and partisan conservative media? If the worshipping of non-expert and climate science denier Patrick Moore is anything to go by, the only qualification you need is the ability to call Democratic congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez a “pompous little twit”. No other actual expertise is, apparently, necessary … Moore has no expertise on climate science.

Donald Trump tweets, Tuesday:

The whole climate crisis is not only fake news, it’s fake science. There is no climate crisis, there’s weather and climate all around the world, and in fact carbon dioxide is the main building block of all life. Wow!

Moore is a public relations consultant and lobbyist, according to The Independent, Tuesday:

He regularly claims humans do not contribute to climate change in statements to the media. “It is potentially catastrophic that the President of the US gets his news on climate change from appearances by an industry spox who falsely portrays himself as a Greenpeace co-founder,” said Matthew Gertz, a fellow at Media Matters who documents the president’s Twitter and TV-watching habits.

Greenpeace website, Tuesday:

(Moore) also exploits long-gone ties with Greenpeace to sell himself as a speaker and pro-corporate spokesperson, usually taking positions that Greenpeace opposes. He did not found Greenpeace.

Jamie Shupe admits to a sham, The Daily Signal website, Sunday:

Four years ago, I wrote about my decision to live as a woman in The New York Times, writing that I had wanted to live “authentically as the woman that I have always been,” and had “effectively traded my white male privilege to become one of America’s most hated minorities”. Three years ago, I decided that I was neither male nor female, but non-binary — and made headlines after an Oregon judge agreed to let me identify as a third sex, not male or female. Now, I want to live again as the man that I am. I’m one of the lucky ones. Despite participating in medical transgenderism for six years, my body is still intact.

Shupe’s blog:

Gender identity is a fraud perpetrated by psychiatry. I will not be a party to advancing harmful gender ideologies that are ruining lives, causing deaths and contributing to the sterilisation and mutilation of gender-confused children.
