Nobody’s girl v anyone’s guy: Keneally’s ‘One Nation’ target is a serial party hopper
Cut and Paste regular and Labor candidate Kristina Keneally finds a new foe in the fight for Bennelong, Tuesday:
I note today that John Alexander and the Liberals are preferencing a One Nation party member above Labor.
One Nation isn’t running a candidate in the by-election. But ex-One Nation WA candidate Anthony Fels is running with a different party. The Australian Electoral Commission’s Bennelong by-election page:
FELS, Anthony — Non-Custodial Parents Party (Equal Parenting).
Keneally has one thing to say about Fels. The ex-NSW Labor premier in Bennelong, continued:
He is One Nation through and through.
Why did Pauline Hanson publicly dump Fels if he’s “One Nation through and through”? The One Nation leader on Sunrise, January 5:
Fels had a meeting with me ... to actually stand as a candidate — no one has been endorsed as a candidate in Western Australia, because the party has not been registered yet. I am not impressed with it at all.
She wasn’t impressed because Fels got into a public fight with her ex-senator Rod Culleton. Outside court ... The Australian, January 4:
He (Culleton) was involved in an altercation outside the magistrates court that morning when ... Fels tried to serve him with a creditors’ petition.
Going by Keneally’s rules, the Liberals’ Alexander is also preferencing a Mutual Party member above Labor. The ABC’s 2014 WA Senate by-election guide:
Mutual Party — FELS, Anthony James.
And a Katter Party member. ABC News online, May 20, 2013:
Mr Fels ... is helping to set up Katter’s Australian Party in Western Australia.
Fels was a Family First member “through and through” too. The WA parliament’s biography of the former upper house MP:
Became a member of the Family First Party on September 6, 2008.
Fels was the founder of WA’s People against Daylight Saving party. Have Alexander and the Liberals done a deal to stop the clocks? Peter Cave hosts ABC radio’s PM program, August 1, 2008:
Adisaffected Liberal in Western Australia is forming a new party called People Against Daylight Saving, or as some are already referring to it — PADS.
And, yes, the “One Nation through and through” dude started life as a Liberal. AAP, November 21, 2007:
The West Australian lower house has declared a Liberal upper house MP unfit to be a member of parliament ... The Labor state government wants Anthony Fels expelled ...
Fels is definitely not “One Nation through and through”. Enough of the scare campaign, Kristina. The Australian, March 31:
Fels ... said he fell out with Hanson after he made remarks to her about (James) Ashby’s involvement in making copies of former federal Speaker Peter Slipper’s diary ... Ashby said yesterday Fels was a “terrible person”.
Keneally should focus on this upcoming festive fundraiser. Even though her co-host might drop out soon ... NSW Labor website:
(NSW Labor’s) Central Policy Branch will be hosting the Annual Christmas Trivia to begin the festive season. Hosted once again by Senator Sam Dastyari with extra special guest Hon. Kristina Keneally ...
