GetUp’s runaway global warming alarmism is even worse than has been predicted

GetUp campaign director Emily Mulligan, The Guardian, January 2:

Climate change is happening now and it’s happening faster and much worse than predicted. It’s threatening to the world we know and everything in it. It’s already killing people. This is beyond doubt or argument.

Happening now? Anthony Watts, Watts Up with That, January 3:

Global cooling since 2016 — 2018 was the 6th warmest year

Worse than predicted? Michael Bastasch, Daily Caller, January 2:

Satellite-derived global temperature data shows 2018 was the sixth warmest year on record in decades, according to the two prominent datasets … Both satellite and surface temperature data show warming trends at the low end of what climate models predicted … data compiled by Santa Rosa, California-based Remote Sensing Systems … shows temperatures in the lower troposphere warmed (0.18C) per decade, which is well below climate model predictions.

Worse? Agence France-Presse, The Guardian, January 18, 2018:

Earth’s surface will almost certainly not warm up four or five degrees Celsius by 2100, according to a study released Wednesday which … voids worst-case UN climate change predictions … For the last 25 years the UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change … has settled on a range of 1.5C to 4.5C (warming) … (University of Exeter professor Peter) Cox and colleagues, using a new methodology, have come up with a far narrower range: 2.2C to 3.4C, with a best estimate of 2.8C. If accurate, it precludes the most destructive doomsday scenarios. “These scientists have produced a more accurate estimate of how the planet will respond to increasing CO2 levels,” said Piers Forster, director of the Priestley International Centre for Climate at the University of Leeds.

Kevin Rudd tweets, January 4:

Scott Morrison loose with the truth. Again. Like Howard on Iraq. (Linking to Andrew Wu, Sydney Morning Herald, January 3:) There has been conjecture raised over a claim made by Prime Minister Scott Morrison during a reception he hosted at Kirribilli House for the Australian and Indian teams on New Year’s Day … that the function was an initiative of former Liberal PM John Howard … The Tonk can debunk this as myth … (The) reception … was instituted when Kevin Rudd was in the top job for the 2010 Test against Pakistan … It was the brainchild of (his adviser) Adam Collins … now a respected cricket writer.

Just more me-tooism from an abysmal cricket hopeful? Paul Mulvey, Courier-Mail, December 28, 2007:

Prime Minister Kevin Rudd took me-tooism to the next level when he … had a stint in the commentary box at the MCG … Accused throughout the election campaign of mimicking the policies of (John Howard, he) attended the second day of Australia’s first Test against India. And he followed Mr Howard and former Labor prime minister (Bob) Hawke behind the … microphones, (saying,) “I was abysmal, I had absolutely no talent, ability or timing” … but he insisted his skills were no worse than Mr Howard’s … “I think Mr Howard did for spin bowling what I did for wicketkeeping, which is not a lot,” he (said) … Presented with an Australian one-day shirt — number “07 Kevin”, of course … he said it would come in very handy to again emulate Mr Howard in his “morning or evening walk attire”.

And on Iraq? Rudd, The Sydney Morning Herald, March 20, 2018:

Fifteen years ago, John Howard took Australia to war based on a lie. He should apologise.

A lie? Rudd, Hansard, March 18, 2003:

For 20 years, Iraq has had chemical and biological weapons of mass destruction and has been developing a nuclear capability.
