The family of Melbourne man Muhammed Yucel, killed in an alleged bikie hit gone wrong, have begged the public for help to solve their son’s murder.

Bakir Yucel and his wife, Fatima, left a Victoria Police media conference in tears yesterday as they described their murdered son as a “happy guy” who was still figuring out what he wanted to do with his life.

“I didn’t realise till he passed away how many friends he had and how much he was loved,” Mr Yucel said. “We miss him; we miss him very much.”

Yucel, 22, was playing video games with friends at a Keysborough property in May last year when he went out to the garage and was shot five times in the back.

Victoria Police yesterday described his murder as a case of mistaken identity by a hitman tied to motorcycle gangs.

“There’s not a day goes past where we don’t think of him,” Bakir Yucel said.

Two other people received non-fatal injuries in the attack.

Detective Inspector Tim Day said the shooting was linked to the Comanchero bikie gang and the intended target was someone connected to the Mongols Motorcycle Club. “This shooting has crossed the line,’’ he said.
