Victoria police offer reward for Melbourne robbery, outside Sunshine City club

Police have offered a $350,000 reward over the shocking robbery and assault of a group of elderly people in Melbourne | VIDEO

Victoria Police have issued a $350,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of a man who assaulted an elderly man with a gun during a robbery in Melbourne’s west last year.

Police say three women and a man were talking in the Sunshine City Club car park, in Sunshine, just before 1am on December 19, when the offender walked out from behind a dumpster.

“The man then pointed a firearm at the group and made demands for the building to be opened,” a police statement said.

Police said the thug then hit the male victim, who is aged in his 70s, in the chest, arm and head with the gun.

“The man continued to make threats against the group, pointing the firearm at one of the women, who is also aged in her 70s,” police said.

The man then picked up a set of keys dropped by the male victim and triggered the victim’s car alarm.

Police said the offender then ran from the scene and turned left towards Albion Railway Station.

The male victim suffered a serious head injury and arm injury.

The attacker managed to steal the elderly man’s mobile phone during the incident.

The man is described as being about 182cm tall, with a thin build, light coloured eyes and of caucasian appearance.

At the time he was wearing dark loose-fitting pants, a dark windcheater, runners and a dark coloured balaclava over his face.

Victoria Police have today announced a $350,000 reward for information leading to the apprehension and subsequent conviction of the person or persons responsible for the assault on the elderly victim.

Police have set up an information caravan this morning at 301 Hampshire Rd, Sunshine which will be operating until 2pm.
