Two people are still in a critical condition after last Thursday’s Flinders Street car attack, with eight injured pedestrians still in hospital.

Victoria Police would not confirm the identities of patients still fighting for life but it is believed one of them is an 83-year-old man who suffered the worst injuries in last week’s car rampage.

Alleged ice addict Saeed Noori was charged with 18 counts of attempted murder and one of conduct endangering life on Saturday, after he was accused of mowing down pedestrians on the corner of Melbourne CBD’s Flinders and Elizabeth streets in a white Suzuki Grand Vitara.

At least 12 of the Flinders Street attack victims were discharged from Melbourne’s major hospitals in the days leading up to Christmas.

One critical patient improved from critical into a stable condition at the weekend.

Reports have emerged about Mr Noori’s behaviour leading up to last Thursday’s events, with neighbours in Heidelberg West in Melbourne’s northeast saying the accused driver was acting erratically before he is said to have driven into pedestrians in the city.

One neighbour told various media outlets Mr Noori lived there with a young woman and a child. The neighbour said Mr Noori spent hours outside his housing commission flat arguing with someone in Arabic over the phone last week.

Police are reported to have been continually monitoring the Heidelberg West address where a raid, as well as one at the family home in Oak Park, was made the night of the car incident.
