Police allegedly want to speak with the unlikely hero of the Bourke Street terror rampage, a homeless man dubbed the “trolleyman” by a grateful public, over a number of burglaries.

Victoria Police confirmed they were looking for “ a 46-year-old man of no fixed address in relation to a number of recent burglaries in the Melbourne CBD and St Kilda areas and breach of bail conditions. “

Michael Rogers, 46, captured the hearts of the nation when he was filmed alongside police on Friday battling the knife-wielding Bourke Street terror attacker, Hassan Khalif Shire Ali, armed with a shopping trolley.

Mr Rogers broke his mobile telephone during the scuffle and a GoFundMe page was set up, raising more than $140,000 for him.

7 News Melbourne reported that today that police were “very keen” to speak to Mr Rogers about a number of recent burglaries in the city and St Kilda.

In an interview on Sunday with the Network Mr Rogers revealed he’d several run ins with the law and had spent time in jail.

“He either didn’t realise or didn’t tell us”, Seven News reported this evening.

The only detail police would give the network was that the alleged burglaries happened before Friday’s fatal attack.
