Clive Palmer has been ordered to file an affidavit explaining the substance of a post he supposedly made on social media while he was meant to be in Federal Court.

The mining magnate, who was not present in the Brisbane court this morning, was supposed to appear in court on November 30 and produce financial documents relating to his flagship company, Mineralogy.

When he did not, the matter was adjourned until the next day.

But he failed to appear again, prompting Judge John Reeves to urge Mr Palmer to “move heaven and earth” to file the documents before the court mention listed for today.

Mr Palmer successfully filed the documents on Tuesday.

But in court today, Mr Reeves further ordered that the former Federal Member for Fairfax produce, by next Wednesday, an explanation of a tweet posted to Twitter while he was meant to be in court on December 1.

“I order that Mr Palmer file an affidavit giving an explanation about the provenance and context of the tweet that was promulgated under his name during the hearing on the 1st of December,” Mr Reeves said.

Mr Palmer is a prolific user of social media and has raised eyebrows in recent months for his cryptic tweets which included poems, memes and doctored images.

The tweet in question showed a photo of Mr Palmer walking outside a Brisbane court with the caption “Hey memesters you vibin’ my style??”.

It was posted at 11.44am (AEST), while Mr Palmer was supposed to be in court.

The documents Mr Palmer handed over this week related to money that was allegedly siphoned offshore from Mr Palmer’s company Queensland Nickel, which collapsed under debts of about $300 million last year.

Queensland Nickel’s general purpose liquidator FTI Consulting has been chasing the documents for several months and in October the Federal Court ordered that Mr Palmer personally produce the documents to court by November 30.
