The NSW government apologises to high school graduates after they received HSC certificates printed with the wrong date.
The NSW government has apologised to tens of thousands of high school graduates after a “human error” meant they received HSC certificates printed with the wrong date.
Education Minister Rob Stokes told the ABC the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) had printed the incorrect year with certificates dated the 14th December 2017 rather than 2018.
The NSW Opposition Education Minister Jihad Dib described the error as a “let down” for hardworking year 12 students.
“We asked 70,000 HSC students to give their best last year,” Mr Dib wrote on Twitter. “What do what they get in return? A Gov that can’t even get the year on the official HSC Certificate correct. They are right to feel disappointed and let down.”

Minister Stokes told the ABC that while the mistake would not impact the validity of the certificates, the error needed urgent rectification. The Australian has contacted him for comment.
