Malcolm Turnbull stops off for family business in Singapore
Malcolm Turnbull has made a stop off in Singapore to spend time with his new grandson, before showing the world.
Malcolm Turnbull has shared shared his joy at his first meeting with grandson Ronan after taking a day out of his schedule to stay with family in Singapore, before meeting world leaders in Europe.
The Prime Minister posted two pictures on Instagram this evening showing him and his wife, Lucy, with his young grandson — including one shot with their granddaughter Isla.
“What joy to meet grandson Ronan for the first time and have lots of fun playing with big sister Isla,” he said.
Mr Turnbull is due to arrive in London late tomorrow to attend the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting where he will discuss trade, security and take part in the key decision on whether Prince Charles will become king, following the end of the Queen’s reign.
Mr Turnbull flew out of Sydney last night to join his wife in Singapore and took a day of annual leave for time out with their fourth grandchild.
While he did not travel on the government VIP jet to Singapore — where his son Alex and wife Yvonne live — Mr Turnbull reassured taxpayers that both he and Lucy travelled on a commercial airline and paid for their own airfares.
The government VIP jet routinely stops in Singapore to refuel for longer flights.
