FOR the second time in five days, family and friends of three people killed in Queensland's devastating floods in the Lockyer Valley gathered to farewell their dead.
On Friday, they met at Peace Lutheran Church in Gatton to pay their respects to Pauline Magner, and yesterday at nearby St Mary's Catholic Church, to lay to rest Ms Magner's grand-daughter Jessica Keep.
The mourners also "celebrated the life" of Jessica's other grandmother, Dawn Radke, who was also killed by the floods.
Jessica was just 23 months old when she was torn from the arms of her mother, Stacy Keep, by a "wall of water" that engulfed their home in the nearby town of Grantham.
Father John Conway led a simple service in front of about 250 people, the Courier Mail reported. "Words cannot describe what you meant to us," Jessica's father, Matthew Keep said.
Stacy Keep was six months pregnant when her daughter was sucked from her arms. The force of the water drew her out of the house, still clutching the toddler; she almost made it to safety but lost her hold on Jessica when her legs became entangled in debris.
