Golden gun, Lamborghini, $250k cash seized in Melbourne drug bust

Police seized a $400,000 2018 Lamborghini and a golden pistol and charged five men in one of the nation’s biggest drug busts.

A golden gun and a $400,000 Lamborghini sports car were seized by police who allegedly smashed one of Australia’s biggest drug operations this year.

Five men have been charged with trafficking drugs or receiving the proceeds of crime after the bust in Melbourne’s west.

The charges relate to the alleged trafficking of speed and heroin worth nearly $4.5 million on the streets.

The Australian Federal Police also said that they seized up to $250,000 in cash, a house used for growing cannabis, encrypted phones, guns and several luxury vehicles, including the rare Italian sports car.

Police arrested a Maidstone man, 33, and charged him with two counts of drug trafficking, charged a Footscray man with two counts of drug trafficking, a Delahey man charged with one count of trafficking, a 32-year-old Maribyrnong man charged with one count of trafficking and a 33-year-old Truganina man charged with dealing in the proceeds of crime.

Assets of $12m were allegedly in the men’s control.

The maximum penalty for the trafficking offence is life imprisonment.

Four men have appeared in court and a fifth was bailed.

They are due to appear in court on February 4 next year.
