Girl, 12, assaulted in her Footscray home by man of African appearance

Victoria Police allege a man of African appearance burgled the girl’s Footscray home and attacked her overnight.

A 12-year-old girl has been assaulted in her own home by a man of African appearance in Melbourne’s west overnight.

Victoria Police allege the man burgled the Footscray home sometime before 9pm when he was disturbed by the child.

He allegedly attacked the girl when he escaped but she has not sustained any injuries.

The man then fled on a scooter which police believe was stolen from the property.

No arrests have been made and the investigation is still ongoing.

This recent assault comes after it was revealed only one arrest has been made after a spate of out-of-control house parties linked to youths of African appearance in Footscray and North Melbourne. At both parties, police were attacked by youths.
