Queensland Health has today referred a controversial new book by forensic psychiatrist Donald Grant to the state’s Health Ombudsman and the Crime and Corruption Commission for investigation.

“Our view of the ethical appropriateness of this matter hasn’t changed,” a department spokesperson said in a statement this afternoon.

“Following a request from Minister for Health Steven Miles, we referred the matter to the Health Ombudsman this morning.

“We have also referred the matter to the CCC to consider any issues of potential corrupt conduct.”

It comes after The Australian this week revealed Queensland mother Sonia Anderson’s anger at learning her murdered daughter Bianca Girven’s last words through Dr Grant’s book, Killer Instinct.

Ms Anderson today lodged her own complaint with Health Ombudsman Andrew Brown.

A response is being sought from Dr Grant and Melbourne University Publishing.
