Community leader Jacinta Price silenced by Facebook again
Jacinta Price wants Facebook to change its censorship and community guidelines after she was blocked for a second time.
Alice Springs councillor Jacinta Price is calling on Facebook to change its community guidelines after she was banned from posting on her social media pages for the second time in under a week.
Ms Price had her Facebook restricted for 24 hours on Wednesday after she named and shamed online abusers who were angry that she had defended Kerri-Anne Kennerley over “racist” comments she made about the Australia Day debate.
At the time, Facebook told The Australian that Ms Price’s account had been temporarily suspended and since restored.
But yesterday morning Ms Price said she was again prevented from posting to either her personal or public Facebook pages, leaving her questioning how easy it is for users to have someone banned from posting on the site.
“It feels as though this is a deliberate tactic now coming from my detractors to … silence me.”
Facebook last night admitted they made a mistake in restricting Ms Price’s access for the second time.
“We have restored full access to Ms. Price’s account and apologised for the error,” a Facebook Australia spokesman told The Australian.
