Police have linked one of Australia’s most notorious motorcycle gangs to another alleged underworld hit gone wrong.

Victoria Police told reporters today they were investigating the Comanchero bikie gang’s role in the death of Zabi Ezedyar, 26, who was found dead with several bullet wounds in an Narre Warren home last August. They believe the death was a case of mistaken identity.

Police also released footage for the first time which shows Ezedyar was followed by his alleged killer in a Honda CRV before he was gunned down.

“We are looking into the possibility of OMCG (outlaw motorcycle gang) activity, in particular, the Comanchero,” Homicide Detective Inspector Tim Day said.

“There is nothing at all in his background that would indicate that he would be the intended victim for this.”

Ezedyar’s death is similar to the alleged murder of Muhamed Yucel, 22, last May which police also allege was a case of mistaken identity and linked to the Comanchero.

“Only a few weeks ago I spoke of the death of Muhammed Yucel which related to OMCG activity ... There was absolutely no reason for Zabi’s family to go through this,” Inspector Day said.

“We have a young man who has senselessly lost his life through the unnecessarily violent actions of others.”

CCTV footage showed the silver Honda following Ezedyar’s car before quickly speeding away from the scene of his shooting. Police are also looking for a white Toyota Corolla they have linked to the shooting.

Ezedyar, an Afghan migrant, had only been in Melbourne for seven months before he was killed.

He grew up in Perth and his family flew in from Western Australia yesterday to ask for anyone with more information to come forward.

There is speculation the intended target was actually underworld figure Mohammad Akbar Keshtiar who was at the home with Ezedyar. The dead man’s family confirmed they know the Keshtiars.

“We weren’t really aware that he had any association with Akbar but my mum’s family knew them back in our country (Afghanistan) from a very, very long time ago,” Ezedyar’s sister Deana said.

“I always told him ... there are always people out there that are stronger than you, just be careful.”

Ezedyar’s mother, Mariam, broke down in tears at the press conference yesterday.

“Any piece of information no matter how small, how insignificant it might seem to you, could be a big deal to us,” she said.

“I just want justice for my son.”
