Boy, 8, dead with woman arrested at scene

A woman has been arrested in connection to the death of an eight-year-old boy on Melbourne’s Mornington Peninsula.

An eight-year-old boy has been found dead on Melbourne’s Mornington Peninsula and a 41-year-old woman has been arrested in connection to his death.

Victoria Police found the boy’s body at an Alma Street property in Tootgarook, 80 kilometres from Melbourne’s CBD, shortly after 1:30pm.

The woman was arrested at the scene and is currently helping police with their inquiries.

“It is believed that both parties were known to each other,” a police spokesman said.

“Police are yet to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the death however it is being treated as suspicious at this stage.”

Police are not looking for anyone else in relation to the boy’s death.
