Live breaking news: Coles, KFC, Aldi on big new hotspot list
Coles, Aldi, KFC, Kmart and Chemist Warehouse branches across Sydney are new venues of concern, say health authorities.
Supermarkets, fast food outlets and chemists are on a big new hot spot list.
The new venues of concern come as NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian has been criticised for sending “mixed messages” by urging members of the public to "tell the truth" to contact tracers while simultaneously taking a hard-line approach on rule breakers.
NSW recorded 50 new local cases, including 37 from individuals who were not isolating while infectious.
Ms Berejiklian stressed during Saturday's press conference that some in the community were not being truthful about their movements.
“One message I really want to get across to people who have been diagnosed with COVID, please tell us the truth the first time around,” the Premier said. “Eventually our health contact tracers get to the truth.”
She said they would not be punished for wrongdoing if they told the truth.
But moments later, NSW Police Deputy Commissioner Gary Worboys listed off a range of infringements authorities had issued on Friday to people who had broken lockdown rules.
On social media, many said the messaging was contradictory and "made no sense".
