Ghislaine Maxwell broke her silence on Jeffrey Epstein to claim the convicted paedophile was murdered while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges, alleging the authorities “allowed that to happen”.

In a stunning jailhouse interview revealing her relationships with Prince Andrew, Bill Clinton and the Queen, the disgraced socialite alleged that Epstein didn’t kill himself when he was found dead in his prison cell.

“I believe that he was murdered. I was shocked,” Maxwell said in a TalkTV special, Jeremy Kyle Live: Ghislaine Behind Bar.

“Then I wondered how it had happened? Because as far as I was concerned, he was going to, I was sure he was going to appeal. And I was sure he was covered under the non-prosecution agreement.”

Epstein was found dead in a New York holding cell while awaiting trial in 2019, which authorities claimed was the result of suicide.

While the unusual circumstances surrounding his death have been questioned ever since, Maxwell is one of the most high-profile voices connected to the financier to suggest his death was covered up and made to look like a suicide.

Maxwell has long claimed she was prosecuted in the absence of Epstein following his death, saying in her latest interview that she wasn’t named in his indictment as a co-conspirator.

In addition to claiming that Epstein’s suicide was faked, Maxwell also alleged that the infamous photo of Prince Andrew with Australian Virginia Roberts Giuffre wasn’t genuine.

“Well, it’s a fake. I don’t believe it’s real. In fact I’m sure it’s not … There’s never been an original … Further, there’s no photograph, I’ve only even seen a photocopy of it … “ she told Talk TV.

“I don’t believe it happened, certainly the way as described. It would have been impossible. I don’t have any memory of going to Tramp. Certainly, it’s not an outfit I would have worn. Her stories have changed so many times, what happens, when it happens, how it happens with different versions … Each time she speaks there’s a different version. In fact, if you look at her BBC interviews, on Panorama, I believe she said he, I can’t remember, either he or … he puked on her face. That’s the only time she ever said that.”

While Maxwell claimed she had no memory of Prince Andrew and Roberts Giuffre meeting, she said she had no problems introducing many of her friends to Epstein because she “didn’t know that he was so awful”.

“I honestly wish I had never met him … Looking back now, I probably wish I had stayed in England,” she said.

“I mean obviously now, looking back with hindsight, of course. But at the time, I mean he had lots of friends. He was friendly with just about everybody you could imagine. There was no reason to imagine that he was someone of interest to people.”

When quizzed about her elite connections and friends, Maxwell praised former US president Bill Clinton and the Queen, speaking nostalgically about her socialite past.

“He [Clinton] was one of the most interesting people I’ve ever met. He was extremely sharp and interesting,” she said, adding that the Queen was one of the most exceptional women she’d met.

“It was one of the greatest privileges of my life to have that honour to meet her,” Maxwell said.

“She created a warmth and a sparkle in her eyes that was just mesmerising really and I shared, the story that we shared was about horses because I love horses and she loves horses and so we talked about horses briefly, I remember, and just shared a love of horses. And that was one of her great loves.”

Despite multiple interviews over a series of phone calls from the Federal Correctional Institute Tallahassee in the US state of Florida, Maxwell refused to apologise to her victims when offered the chance by Talk TV journalist Daphne Barak.

“I say Epstein has died and they should take their disappointment and upset out on the authorities that allowed that to happen,” she said.

“And, as I said, I hope that they have some closure via the judicial process that took place.

“And I wish them, er.....time is ticking on and to be able to have a productive and good life going forward. And that’s what I hope for them.”
