Today host Karl Stefanovic has expressed his frustration towards Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews while interviewing Prime Minister Scott Morrison.
Defence COVID-19 task force commander Lieutenant General John Frewen confirmed on Tuesday that 100 Australian Defence Force personnel were on standby for Victoria on March 27 – but the offer wasn’t taken up by the state.
Speaking to the PM on Wednesday morning, Stefanovic said: “I find it exasperating that we don’t know why the Victorian Premier didn’t take that help on.”
“Well, they are answers that only can come from Victoria, Karl,” Mr Morrison replied.
But Mr Stefanovic ramped up the pressure.
“Your own ministers have been unloading on Daniel Andrews, you haven’t disciplined them,” Mr Stefanovic said.
“Why haven’t you disciplined them. Why haven’t you personally lost patience with Daniel Andrews?”
But Mr Morrison replied: “That is not my job.
“My job is to keep focused on the challenge that I have to protect Australians every single day, and I am a very singular-minded, focused person as you know when it comes to dealing with challenges, and that’s where Australians need my focus, not on politics.”
