A man who is alleged to have stabbed his partner 13 times inside their Sydney unit before calling triple-0 has parted ways with his legal team as his case drags through the system, a court has been told.

Anthony “Tony” Eriksen, 62, was arrested after his partner Lisa Fenwick was found stabbed to death inside their Mascot apartment on April 9 last year.

Mr Eriksen has been charged with the murder of his partner of 13 years and no plea has been entered nearly 16 months on.

Police were called to their Church Ave unit block in Sydney’s south following reports of a domestic violence-related incident and Ms Fenwick was found with stab wounds.

She suffered 13 stab wounds – 12 to her chest and one to her right arm.

His matter was mentioned in Sydney’s Downing Centre Local Court on Thursday morning when his lawyers asked for a two-month adjournment.

The court was told that Mr Eriksen, who is being held at the Mid North Coast Correctional Centre, just outside of Kempsey, had recently withdrawn his instructions for his previous legal team.

His new legal team asked for an adjournment because they had only come into the matter last month.

The application for an adjournment was opposed by the prosecution given the delay.

Magistrate Daniel Covington agreed to adjourn the matter for six weeks, considering how serious the charges are and he was now being represented by a fresh legal team.

Mr Eriksen will return to court in September.
