Alfred Claude Rigney appears in Adelaide Magistrates Court on driving charge linked to murder case
A man who is appealing a conviction for murder has appeared in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on a driving charge.
A South Australian man has faced court over a driving charge linked to a murder case.
Alfred Claude Rigney, 47, appeared by video-link in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Wednesday charged with failing to answer questions on the identity of a driver or the owner of a vehicle.
Jasmine Daniel, for Rigney, asked Magistrate David McLeod for an adjournment.
“The charge relates to a murder investigation,” she said.
“The trial occurred in October and there’s now an appeal on foot, he was convicted.”
Ms Daniel said any plea entered at this stage may have a prejudicial effect on a retrial.
She said the appeal is listed for early February.
Mr McLeod adjourned the case to a date in March, pending consideration of the appeal.
