Just weeks after Israel Folau caused a stir by answering a question about the fate of homosexuals via his Instagram account, where he commented their fate is “hell, unless they repent”, the Wallabies star is at it again.

Appearing not to learn a lesson from the backlash he received the first time, the deeply religious athlete has posted a video on Twitter from deceased American evangelist David Wilkerson.

In the post Folau tweets: “With great love I wanted to share this video in the hope that people watch it and think about it. Jesus is coming back soon and he wants us to turn to him through repentance and baptism in the name of Jesus Christ (Acts 2:38) please don’t harden your heart”

The video then goes on to preach about the degradation of society and in scenes just after the two minute mark the preacher can be heard to say the following, as images of protesters with rainbow flags play in the background.

“Rampant iniquity, sexual perversion beyond description”.

Folau’s contract with Rugby Australia had been called into question as a result of the initial Instagram post as backlash from major sponsors, including Qantas mounted but no punishment was meted out by CEO Raelene Castle.

No punishment or sanction was issued and Folau later took a swipe Castle, believing that she had misrepresented his position in talking to the media.

“I believe that it is a loving gesture to share passages from the Bible with others. I do it all the time when people ask me questions about my faith or things relating to their lives, whether that’s in-person or on my social media accounts,” Folau wrote.

Castle had said she’d told Folau that he should use social media in a positive manner.

“We want athletes in our code that are prepared to do that and that’s really important, but at the same time Rugby Australia has also got a policy and position of inclusion and using social media with respect,” Castle said.

“Both of us are going to go away and continue that dialogue and work through how we continue to use our social media platforms in a way that can ensure that our stakeholders are respected.”

The video Folau used in his Tweet goes on for over 11 minutes before the evangelist goes on to further detail his anti-homosexual views.

“This generation has lost the fear of God,” Wilkerson can be heard to say.

“The fear of the lord is to hate evil by mercy and iniquity is purged

“I was invited to speak at a gathering at Yale and I was informed before the meeting that a group of demonstrators had come with signs and they had read something I had preached from Romans about homosexuality, I suppose, and they said they are going to demonstrate it at a certain time.

“And I said ‘Lord what do I preach?’ And the Lord said preach your message on hell. Hell. What it’s like and who is going there and I wasn’t halfway through when a holy hush, the presence of the Holy Ghost came.”

He then goes on to suggest same-sex marriage and tolerance of it is a sin.

“The devil brings in a Jesus that is tolerant, tolerant towards same-sex marriage, tolerant toward everything. There is no such thing as sin or a sinner.”

Rugby Australia today did not comment on the issue when asked by Fairfax Media.
