Gunman Stanley Turvey evades police, remains at large
Gunman Stanley Turvey evaded arrest and forced a captive to drive him interstate, triggering a two-state manhunt.
Police remain on the hunt for Stanley Turvey after reports suggest he assaulted a woman and stole a vehicle armed with a firearm on Tuesday morning.
Officers were called to a scene along Witt Street in Yarrawonga, just south of the Victorian-New South Wales border, where Mr Turvey is believed to have fled in a white Toyota Hi-Lux Dual cab utility at around 10am.
Victoria Police confirmed they remain in the area and are searching for the vehicle, with the registration 1RA-8AN and Mr Turvey.
Turvey is on the run after evading arrest in Shepparton yesterday and crossed the border into NSW, triggering a two-state manhunt.
Victoria Police attended a property in Katandra West as part of an investigation to arrest Stanley Turvey when the individual approached police with a firearm just after midday.
Turvey proceeded to flee the scene by vehicle.
A police unit subsequently lost control of their vehicle and rolled on Creighton Road leaving two officers with minor injuries and taken to hospital for observation where they have since been released.
Turvey abandoned his vehicle and forced a random male resident in Youanmite to drive Turvey to Finley, NSW. The male captive was released uninjured, though Turvey is believed to remain at large.
Police are appealing for information that may assist authorities in locating the runaway’s whereabouts but are advising the public not to approach Turvey.
