Dutton confirms migrant talks

Home Affairs Minister Peter Dutton has confirmed he discussed changing Australia’s immigration intake with senior colleagues. Mr Dutton this morning said he supported Malcolm Turnbull’s denial of the revelation, published in The Australian, despite going on to confirm a lot of the story’s content.

Shorten looking for a safer seat

Bill Shorten has confirmed he is considering switching from his seat of Maribyrnong in Melbourne to the newly created safer seat of Fraser following a rewriting of federal electoral boundaries.

Mehajer guilty of electoral fraud

Controversial Sydney businessman Salim Mehajer has been found guilty of being part of a 2012 electoral fraud plot that helped put him on Auburn City Council.

In the drive to mine generous renewable energy subsidies and deliver on a bipartisan renewable energy target, companies were set loose without any overarching long-term plan needed to replace a vastly different electricity network based on continuous baseload generation, primarily from coal. Australia needs a comprehensive national energy plan and less hot air.
