Labor backs PM’s tax cuts
Labor will back a federal government move to bring forward tax cuts for companies with annual turnovers less than $50 million. Those companies will have their tax rate cut to 26 per cent in 2020/21, then 25 per cent the following year, under legislation that will be introduced to parliament next week.

F-35s grounded in US
The Defence Department is yet to confirm if Australia’s new F-35 strike fighters have been grounded as part of a US ban on flights by the jets following investigations into a crash last month. The grounding was reported to be in response to concerns the aircraft may have a faulty part related to fuel supply.

A Queensland woman has shared confronting pictures of her battered body which is covered in bruises after she tried to shield her baby from hailstones as supercell storms ripped across southern Queensland. A major clean-up operation is under way today after a tornado and severe storms swept across southern Queensland, tearing roofs from properties and destroying crops on the eve of harvest season.
