Former Labor prime minister Julia Gillard has returned to the House of Representatives to hear Scott Morrison’s apology to children who suffered sexual abuse in institutions. Mr Morrison says the government will commit to establishing a national centre of excellence to raise awareness and understanding of the impacts of child sexual abuse. Telstra outage

Telstra’s major network outage in May left more than 1400 triple-0 calls unanswered, according to the industry regulator, which has found the telco in breach of its responsibility for ensuring all such calls are carried through to emergency services.

Resentment in Saudi court

Even before Jamal Khashoggi’s gruesome murder in Istanbul, Mohammed bin Salman was in trouble at home. His appointment as crown prince broke a chain of succession that had the Saudi throne pass from brother to brother. It came at the expense of his uncle, Mohammed bin Nayef, who remains under house arrest and whose bank accounts have been drained.
