Trump hails China pledge

US President Donald Trump has today seized on seemingly conciliatory remarks from Chinese leader Xi Jinping, praising Beijing’s “kind words” as a breakthrough in a looming trade war between the two countries. Washington correspondent Cameron Stewart says the Chinese leader’s historic push is a stunning victory for Donald Trump.

“Does that sound like free or fair trade. No, it sounds like ­STUPID TRADE — going on for years!”

Malcolm Turnbull was at odds last night with the accounts of three ministers involved in a meeting that considered reducing Australia’s immigration intake after issuing a furious denial of a report on the talks in The Australian.

More sponsors fall foul of Folau

The storm surrounding Israel Folau’s controversial social media post last week has spread, with several more key Rugby Australia sponsors going public yesterday to criticise the comments, while also promoting their own credentials on diversity and inclusion.

‘Everyone deserves privacy’

A nervous but composed Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg has apologised unreservedly to the US Congress for his mismanagement of Facebook, saying it was his fault that the company did not better protect its users.
