Therapists threaten walkout

A battle worth hundreds of millions of dollars between therapists and the National Disability ­Insurance Agency represents a “clear and present threat” to the viability of the scheme as bureaucrats consider slashing prices paid for support by 40 per cent, sparking threats of a mass walkout by providers.

Tough start

Jennifer Westacott’s stellar career in business and public policy has its roots in a small housing commission flat in Springfield, on the NSW central coast. That’s where the chief executive of the Business Council of Australia grew up, and learned lessons that have underpinned her attitude to life and work. Ms Westacott today becomes an Officer of the Order of Australia for her service to private and public administration. Find out who else received honours.

Show ‘too white’

A top ABC comedy program is “too white”, “too male orientated” and should focus more on jokes about race and the perception that people think Australia is a racist country, a leaked internal document reveals. A three-page ABC document obtained by The Australian marked “Swot from the around the team” and dated May 21, outlines the strengths, weaknesses and ways to improve Tonightly with Tom Ballard. The document, drawn up by producer Dan Ilic, emerged after Ballard strongly denied indecently assaulting an aspiring comedian four years ago after the alleged victim published allegations on social media.
