Bank bounce

Soaring bank stocks drove the sharemarket to its biggest one-day rise in more than two years as investors poured in $19bn.

Banks snub

Julia Banks snubbed the biggest annual event in her electorate, instead going ‘on the hustings’ in the seat she will contest. One of the biggest frauds perpet­rated on the Australian electorate this year will be the idea that so-called “indies” are independents, writes Janet Albrechtsen.
