Pelosi’s historic comeback

California Democrat Nancy Pelosi was elected speaker of the House of Representatives this morning, making her the first person to reclaim the gavel since 1955.

Pelosi is the only woman who has held the office and now one of few elected officials who have returned to it. She will take the reins of an ideologically diverse Democratic caucus into the 2020 presidential race.
