Your afternoon Briefing
Hello readers. Here’s how this Monday unfolded.
Good afternoon, readers. As Monday draws to a close, here’s what you need to know.
-
Turnbull and Pyne don’t want to go to work
Independent MP Bob Katter has threatened to join with Labor and Greens to convene parliament without the Coalition next week “whether it sits on the garden lawn or whether it sits in a building”. The government rescheduled the final sitting weeks saying it wants to ensure it can legalise same sex marriage before Christmas and allow the House and the Senate to “do all they can to resolve the citizenship issue”.

‘I don’t want to create an incident’
Well this is awkward... apparently US President Donald Trump confused New Zealand PM Jacinda Ardern with Canadian leader Justin Trudeau’s wife at a summit in Asia last week. According to reports, it was several minutes before Trump released she was in fact the Prime Minister of New Zealand. Ardern is playing the whole thing down, saying she doesn’t want to cause a diplomatic incident.
Being shown the poor door
As if it’s not miserable enough to sit in the back end of the plane, British Airways is going introduce the aeronautical equivalent of the poor doors, with passengers who pay the least being made to board last. Please don’t do this to us, Jetstar.

Comment of the day
Not one thought for the people who pay their wages - not one iota of respect or consideration for those who voted for them. Then again, as long as they are having fun.
A pox on all their houses.
