Victoria set to pass assisted dying bill

Victoria is on track to having the country’s first euthanasia program in more than 20 years after the controversial legislation passed the Victorian parliament’s upper house this afternoon.

Bernardi set to unleash Bennelong candidate

NXT senator quits over citizenship

Nick Xenophon Team senator Skye Kakoschke-Moore has quit parliament after confirming she holds dual-citizenship with Britain, the latest politician to be undone by the seemingly never-ending piece of string the dual-citizenship fiasco has become.

Freedoms ‘axed by Christmas’

ACL head Lyle Shelton says five million Australians will have their right to freedom of speech “wiped out before Christmas”. Mr Shelton has taken issue with the Turnbull government appointing Philip Ruddock to assess Australia’s religious protections.

David Cassidy dies, aged 67

David Cassidy, the star of the 1970s musical sitcom The Partridge Family, has died from organ failure, aged 67. The former teen heart-throb was called a “health hazard” by the then Victorian Health Minister Alan Scanlan after 300 teenagers fainted and 50 more were injured at a concert at the MCG.
