‘I still hope for truth, justice’

Although the complainant got all sorts of facts wrong, the jury must have believed that Pell did something dreadful to him, writes Frank Brennan. The jurors must have judged the complainant to be honest and reliable even though many of the details he gave were improbable if not impossible.

Trad tells coalminers to re-skill

Workers in mining districts need to re-skill amid a backlash against coal-fired electricity, Queensland Deputy Premier Jackie Trad says.

ALP ‘disrupting Price campaign’

Jacinta Price has accused the ALP of “callously and vindictively” trying to disrupt a crowd-funding page in support of her campaign for the Northern Territory seat of Lingari.

India air force jets strike militant camps in Pakistan

An Indian government minister has said India’s air force jets carried out air strikes on militant camps inside Pakistan.
